A Perfect Weekend in Stockholm - 72h Guide (part 1/3)

Sooo I think it's time for some travel posts in the middle of all the au pair, nordjobb and university babbling. What could possibly be better than a post about Stockholm, a city where I've spent two summers now?

PÄIVÄ 1 / DAY 1

Main attractions

Upon arrival, you have to get a rough idea of the town, right? That's why a little walking tour is the best possible thing to do! Start with Sergel's square, which is the centre of Stockholm, and continue all the way to Kungsträdgården via Hamngatan, which a central shopping street. Kungsträdgården often has free concerts, performances and events during summertime. If you go back to Hamngatan and turn left from the square, you'll find Östermalm, the luxurious neighbourhood full of expensive shops.

Happy kids and super soap bubbles in the park of Kungsträdgården

Kahvila/lounas

Coffee break/lunch

After you think you've had enough of sightseeing, take yourself to a coffee shop called Café 60 (Sveavägen 60) Whether you want the traditional Swedish fika experience, are craving for a good baguette or salad or want a good old piece of pie or cake... Café 60 has it for sure! I swear you'll get dizzy of all the tastebud tickling options they have which soar from the floors up to the ceilings. Also, if you're not into clubbing and want to have a relaxing night out. this is the perfect place for late night coffee since Café 60 is open until 2:00 AM during weekends.

This is only half of Café 60s wide selection of cakes! Yum!
Saaristo

Archipelago

If you don't feel like sitting in a boat all day long, but still want to get close to the water, you should check out the local commuter boats. Of course, they aren't glamorous cruise ships, but you can get surprisingly far by them. You can hop on to boats from Nybroplan, Slussen and Djurgården just to name a few places. Timetables and routes can be found here: http://www.waxholmsbolaget.se/visitor/

Nynäshamn has cruises to the beautiful island of Gotland
Ilta-aktiviteetti

Skinnarviksberget.

Evening activity

Skinnarviksberget. A popular place for picnics, wine and sunsets. However, if don't feel like sitting on a hard rock, there's a beautiful path worth walking a bit lower down. It's called Montelius vägen, is 500 meters long and is more easily accessible than the huge rock which requires a bit of climbing. Both options offer breathtaking views of Stockholm without paying any entrance tickets!

Skinnarviksberget is the perfect place to admire Stockholm's view.

Kakkos- ja kolmospäivän ohjelmat tulevat pian, joten muistakaas tsekkailla nekin!

Day two and three programs will be on soon so be sure to check them out too!
